12th KL Boys’ Brigade Social Entrepreneurship Badge, conducted by M.A.D Movement.
As future leaders of Malaysia, there exists a growing need for today’s young generation to understand how business, community issues, and social responsibility intersect. There is a growing awareness amongst our young to contribute meaningfully to society. Yet at this age, they lack exposure to humanitarian issues and real-world problem-solving experiences.
The 12th Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade Social Entrepreneurship Badge, conducted in partnership with M.A.D Movement, was designed to address this challenge by equipping youths with entrepreneurial awareness, social empathy, and practical skills that prepare them to become responsible changemakers.
Through seven weeks of interactive sessions, participants learned to:
Understand core business concepts like revenue, capital, and profit.
Explore current community issues and social impact solutions.
Develop teamwork, leadership, and project management skills.
Engage with a real social enterprise, dialogue and present findings.
Participants graduate as more socially conscious members of Boys’ Brigade with an enhanced worldview, equipped with understanding and confidence to participate and execute projects that can benefit their community.
This program was run as an inaugural project with 12th Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade, targeting 36 participants aged 14–16 from Year 7 to 11 at the Wesley Methodist School (both Private & International). The badgework combines classroom teaching with experiential learning, guiding participants step-by-step from understanding basic entrepreneurship concepts to experiencing real social enterprise models in action.
The program unfolded in two parts - starting with classroom lessons participants learned,
Entrepreneurship concepts such as revenue, capital, marketing, and profit, reinforced through a “Bubble Tea Business Simulation”
Social impact awareness, experienced through a “Social Crisis Simulation” that helped them empathise with vulnerable communities
Social entrepreneurship, using the “GoVenture Social Enterprise Game” to demonstrate how enterprises balance profit and impact.
These sessions enabled students to connect theory with practice and reflect meaningfully after each activity.
Then they were taken through an experiential tour of Dignity for Children, an award-winning social enterprise ecosystem. They observed real-life operations across 10 enterprise units, from food and retail to creative arts, and learned how revenue and skills training sustain community development. The final week culminated in group presentations summarising their findings, learnings, and reflections before earning their Social Entrepreneurship Badge.
M.A.D Movement designed, facilitated and delivered this badgework from end-to-end, ensuring the learning experience remained relevant and engaging. Our hands-on approach ensured that students received structured guidance and mentorship that made a memorable experience.
